Sabine J. Davis, Editor
The Rocky Mountain Review

Pullman, WA 99164-2610
The review should have the following information:
- Your name, e-mail address, and phone number; and
- Name of the file (with extension) *plus* the software program and version that you have used.
Reviews should be submitted within three months of reception of the book. If, having looked
at the book, you decide that you do not wish to review it, please return the book to the editor.
RMMLA membership is a prerequisite for submission of the review. Following publication in
The Rocky Mountain Review,
reviews can be downloaded in PDF format from our web site at www.rmmla.org.
All corrections and revisions must be completed by the following deadlines: August 31st for the
fall issue and December 31st for the spring issue. The Editors bear the final responsibility for the
journal, and reserve the right to refuse any review that is excessively tardy or otherwise
unsuitable.
Format: Reviews should begin with the following information, in the order and with the
punctuation and styles outlined in the example below:
- Name of the author or editor(s) of the book or media item;
- Complete title and subtitle, as well as edition (if applicable);
- Place of publication, name of publisher, and year of publication;
- Number of pages;
- Your full name and institutional affiliation, if any. If you are an independent scholar,
please state so.
Example: Mary Ann Caws. To the Boathouse: A Memoir.
Tuscaloosa: University
of Alabama Press, 2004. 243p.
Joanne Craig
Bishop's University
The primary focus of reviews should be the critical evaluation and framework of the book or
media item, not a summary of its contents. Reviews should be between two and four manuscript
pages in length, double-spaced, and
should conform to the latest MLA style. Footnotes, endnotes, and lengthy quotations should be
avoided.
Because we are a generalist organization with generalist journals, reviews will be
printed in the order of the chronology of their subject matter, similar to library
cataloging systems. Therefore, a review of a book concerning Classical Mythology will
precede one reviewing
a CD-ROM on medieval women, followed by a book review on an Edgar Allan Poe biography.
Reviews of materials concerned with contemporary cultural studies, linguistics, and
bibliographical resources or style manuals tend to appear at the end of the sequence.
