Guidelines for Submission of Articles to the
Rocky Mountain Review

Submission: Manuscripts for consideration should be submitted in triplicate to:
Sabine J. Davis, Editor
Rocky Mountain Review
Washington State University
P. O. Box 642610
Pullman, WA 99164-2610

Authors of articles for the Rocky Mountain Review must be members of RMMLA at the time of submission. The author's name should appear only on the cover letter, not on any of the copies. Please allow three to four months for a decision on publication.

Format: Manuscripts should be 15-25 pages in length, double-spaced, and should conform to the latest MLA-style guidelines. Submission of a manuscript indicates that the article is not being considered nor has been published elsewhere. The print version of the journal publishes articles in English; the electronic version publishes articles in any language.

Abstract: Three copies of an informative and comprehensive abstract of 50 to 100 words must accompany the manuscript when it is first submitted.

Documentation: Writers are responsible for checking the accuracy of all references and for ensuring that complete information is provided in the Works Cited list for all sources referenced in the text.

Figures and Images: It is the responsibility of the writer to seek and to obtain written permission from the copyright holder to reproduce all visual or other materials accompanying the manuscript.

Review Process: All articles submitted for consideration, whether for the print or Web-based version of the Rocky Mountain Review, go through a scholarly review process. Details on this review process and a list of the faculty serving on the Editorial Board may be found on this site. Manuscripts will not be returned to authors.

Acceptance and Publication: Once an article is accepted for publication, the author submits the following to the Editors by e-mail to davissj@wsu.edu:

  • a clean, fully revised, print copy of the article with the abstract;
  • a biographical note of about 50 words;
The article is then copy-edited and prepared for publication. The print journal is published semi-annually in November and April and mailed to those who have opted to pay a supplemental print mailing fee. The deadlines for submitting articles to be published in the fall or spring issue are August 31st and December 31st respectively.

The online version of the Rocky Mountain Review publishes articles at the point of final edit, regardless of the print schedule. Abstracts of on-line articles written in a language other than English appear in the next print edition of the journal for bibliographical purposes.

Following publication in the Rocky Mountain Review, authors will receive three copies of the journal issue featuring their article.
