The peer-reviewed journal of the Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association is the Rocky Mountain Review. This journal appears in both print and Web-based versions and publishes scholarly works of the following types:

  • Articles of relevance to those involved in the study and teaching of languages, literature, film, culture, writing, second language acquisition, and educational technology, among other areas;
  • Forum commentaries concerned with issues of importance to the profession;
  • Reviews of books, or of media materials: educational web sites, software products, or development applications for educational use.

The print version appears semi-annually (normally April and November) and is mailed to all current members of the RMMLA who have oped to pay a supplemental print mailing fee. Articles published in the print version of the journal must be written in English.

The Web-based version of the Rocky Mountain Review is asynchronous, with articles appearing as soon as they pass through the final editing process, regardless of the print schedule. The online version of the journal, for which articles undergo the same referee process as the print version, contains all of the articles and reviews that appear in the print version, plus:

  • articles written in languages other than English; and
  • articles that incorporate multimedia components (graphics, audio and video clips, etc.).
Contributions to the online journal will be listed in the Table of Contents of the print journal following their publication on the Web. Each item in the print Table of Contents will include the author's name, the title of the piece, and a 100-word abstract of the piece, along with the URL of the electronic text.

It bears repeating that all articles and reviews appearing in the online version of this journal pass through exactly the same referee process as those which appear in print.

Contributors to the online version of the Rocky Mountain Review receive a PDF version of the printed table of contents, along with a letter from the editors at RMMLA explaining that it is a scholarly refereed journal and that articles appearing in it undergo the identical editorial review process as pieces published in the print version. This will also be made clear in a statement appearing throughout the online journal. These measures are intended to reassure hiring committees, as well as tenure and promotion review boards, of our strict editorial policies and practices.

We invite you to submit your work for publication consideration.
