Laughter and Composition
A course on comedy sounds appealing to students. Will they be watching sit-coms? Will they learn to be funny? Do they just have to write a response to a humerous essay? Innate to the Humanities and beyond entertainment, the comprehension of comedy and its connection and influence within our culture is a valuable inquiry for critical thinking and rhetoric. My presentation will focus on the challenge of narrowing and applying theories of laughter to a composition course.
