Defending Paul and the Intitiated: Esoteric Tradition in Early Christianity and Baptism for the Dead.
Historical references demonstrate that not only did baptism for the dead exist in early Christianity, but that it was an integral part of an esoteric tradition, or mystery rite, in the orthodox church established by Jesus Christ. Vicarious baptism was taught by the Apostle Paul and restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith.
