  • WIF: Women in French is organizing two sessions for the December 2008 MLA Conference in San Francisco
One sessions is:Le Roman noir au féminin.
More and more women writers are choosing this genre because it is a literary field in which the masculine cannon has not been as strictly established as in other genres. It is therefore possible to study how Roman Noir written by women is different from/similar to Roman Noir written by men as far are the following areas are concerned: themes, narrative techniques, language, and discourse. Such a study can be conducted as a genre that is parallel to Roman Noir written by men without using it as a point of reference.
